Yume Nikki

'Madotsuki, standing on her balcony.'

Yume Nikki (ゆめにっき, lit. Dream Diary) is an adventure game by pseudonymous Japanese developer Kikiyama. The player controls a girl named Madotsuki and explores her dreams. The initial version was released for free on Kikiyama's site in June 2004, with updates continuing until 2007. It received a cult following globally following an english fan translation, and it's visual style and horror elements have been cited as an influence by many other indie games." (~)

'Madotsuki, walking down a staircase while surrounded by weird blue hands reaching into the sky.'

'Dancing Mesoamerican-style monkeys.'

To me, Yume Nikki is one of the only artworks in any medium that feels the way mu bullshit feels.

'Madotsuki, as a lamp.'

'Madotsuki, in Poniko's house.'
